Asperger's Syndrome (continued)

Picture
Although children with Asperger’s are not usually withdrawn, as are many children with autistic disorder, they may be socially awkward and may not be able to react appropriately to other people’s feelings. Like children with autism, those with Asperger’s may engage in repetitive behaviors and show an intense and narrowly-focused interest in detailed information, such as cell phone model numbers, without a broader interest in how cell phones actually work.

Four of every five children diagnosed with Asperger’s are boys. Of those evaluated, the disorder is usually diagnosed by age 3.
